Kay, Lourinda's Story
Life
11/2010
I Left school during my sophomore year 1967-68. 1970 would have been my senior year. In 1970, I met and married Roderick (ROD) Richard Smith (a Mission /Corpus/ USAF guy). We continued to operate the family business (ATHA'S CORRAL SHOP) for two years. In 1972, we moved to McAllen and lived there almost seven years. After receiving his BS from Pan Am in 1978 Rod joined the U.S. Border Patrol and we were stationed in Brackettville, TX. We were in BrackettÃÂ almost 15 years. While Rod did the "Mean Green Thing" I did the "Mom Thing" and volunteered for this, that, and the other and worked for a time as a Security Guard then for a long time as an EMT/Nursing Assistant and Girl Friday in the local clinic. last five years there I became a Paramedic and County EMS/Disaster Management Coordinator. I also worked part time for the local funeral home. In 1992, Rod transferred to San Angelo, Texas where our youngest daughter was attending college. I "Retired",and am now a full time homemaker. As of Aug 2010 Rod and I have been married 40 years. Rod retired in July 2005 and we will be moving to our mini-ranch just south of here in Christoval Texas. We have two grown daughters. Anastasia Nicole is an RN; married to Greg Epperson they are parents of twins, Kalyn and Kyle. They live and work in Birmingham, Alabama. Our youngest daughter Travis Renee who was also an RN, passed away in August of 2010.
